Irish Freemasonry in Sri Lanka is a longstanding institution dedicated to fostering brotherhood, personal growth, and community service. Established in 1861 with the founding of the Sphinx Lodge, our organization has grown to include multiple Lodges across the island, all operating under the Provincial Grand Lodge (PGL) of Sri Lanka. We uphold the rich traditions and values of the Grand Lodge of Ireland, emphasizing integrity, charity, and mutual support. Our members are committed to making a positive impact through various charitable initiatives, educational programs, and community outreach efforts, ensuring that Freemasonry remains a beacon of hope and progress in Sri Lanka.

How to Join Freemasonry

Joining Freemasonry in Sri Lanka is a straightforward process designed to welcome individuals who share our values and commitment to service. Here’s how you can become a member:

Applicants should be of good character, believe in a Supreme Being, and be committed to personal and moral development.

Complete the New Candidate Application form available in our Downloads section

Attend an interview with Lodge members to discuss your interest and suitability for Freemasonry.

Upon approval, you will undergo an initiation ceremony to become a full member of the Lodge.

Participate in orientation sessions to learn about Masonic principles, rituals, and your role within the fraternity. Join us to experience the camaraderie, support, and opportunities that Freemasonry offers, while contributing to meaningful community projects.
